…
My passion is helping women reconnect with themselves, their health and their bodies.
I do that through a combination of embodied counselling, somatic practices, meditation, movement, nourishing food, connection and adventure.
At first glance, counselling and sailing might seem like very different worlds. To me, they belong together.
So much of modern life asks us to live from the neck up. We think, analyse, plan, perform, care for everyone else and keep moving. Somewhere along the way, it can become surprisingly easy to lose contact with what our own body is telling us.
What do I need?
What do I actually want?
What feels good?
What needs to change?
What makes me feel alive?
My work is about creating spaces where those answers have room to emerge.
A life lived through the body
My professional life has taken me through several worlds.
I am a Registered Nurse, relationship counsellor, yoga teacher, massage practitioner, meditation teacher and sailor, and I am continuing my training in embodied counselling and somatic sexology.
Rather than seeing these as separate careers, I increasingly see them as different ways of understanding the same thing: what helps a human being feel safe, connected, healthy and fully alive?
Nursing taught me to respect the physical body.
Counselling taught me to listen to people’s stories and relationships.
Yoga and meditation taught me the power of attention, breath and awareness.
Somatics brought those worlds together by asking a different question: not only What do you think about what happened? but What is happening inside your body right now?
And sailing taught me something else entirely.
You cannot control the ocean.
You learn to pay attention, respond to what is actually happening, work with changing conditions and trust your capacity to navigate.
I think life asks much the same of us.
Coming back to yourself
Somatic work is grounded in felt experience.
Instead of trying to change ourselves entirely through thought, we become curious about sensation, breath, movement, emotion, tension, pleasure and the subtle messages of the body.
For many women, this can be a profound homecoming.
We spend years adapting to relationships, families, careers and expectations. We become very good at sensing what everyone else needs while gradually becoming less certain about our own boundaries, desires and inner signals.
My work is an invitation to rebuild that relationship with yourself.
Not to become a different person.
To become more deeply yourself.
Health is bigger than what happens in a clinic
My nursing background has given me enormous respect for medicine, but my understanding of health has also expanded over the years.
Health is influenced by how we eat, sleep and move, but also by how we breathe, relate, rest, play, connect and experience our bodies.
It is affected by friendship and belonging.
By sunlight and movement.
By nourishing food shared around a table.
By having adventures.
By laughing until your stomach hurts.
By feeling the earth beneath your feet and salt water on your skin.
By having enough quiet to hear yourself think, and sometimes enough presence that you don’t need to think at all.
This is why my work extends beyond the counselling room.
The ocean is part of my work too
Some of my favourite work happens aboard a sailing boat.
My women’s sailing retreats combine adventure, movement, nourishing food, meditation, somatic practices, creativity and connection with other women.
They aren’t about escaping life for a few days or creating a perfectly curated wellness bubble.
They’re about feeling alive inside your own life.
There is something wonderfully regulating about waking with the sun, moving your body, swimming in the ocean, eating together, navigating somewhere new and spending a few days away from the relentless noise of ordinary life.
Sometimes the most meaningful conversations happen during a formal practice.
Sometimes they happen barefoot on the deck with a cup of tea.
Both count.
My work today
Today my work moves through three interconnected areas: Embodied Counselling, Meditations and Women’s Sailing Retreats.
Different doors. Same destination.
A deeper relationship with your body.
A stronger connection with yourself.
More capacity to recognise what you need, trust what you feel and experience the pleasure and vitality that can become available when you are fully present in your own life.
Because ultimately, this is the question that has fascinated me for years:
What happens when we stop merely getting through life and begin to feel truly turned on by being alive?

Thankyou so much for a wonderful retreat. I arrived stressed sad and completely exhausted. Left feeling empowered and centered. The company was amazing the food sensational and the experience of sharing with wonderful women life changing. I would recommend this to any woman that needs to find themselves again and to the ones that just need to stop for a moment in their busy lives. Sometimes we just need to refuel our souls.

Sheryl offered an amazing experience with the space to do your own thing or be involved. Assisting with sailing the Catarmaran, learning new skills and enjoying the fresh open air. The food was amazing and lots of opportunities to explore different islands. I had a fantastic time and hoping to go on another one in a year or two. I highly recommend and they are small intimate groups which allows for a more personal and connected experience
